Manicures and pedicures are beauty treatments that trim, shape, and polish the nails. Well-manicured nails are a symbol of good health and social status. Almost everyone visits beauty establishments and nail salons hundreds of times for manicure and pedicure services. When we do, our health depends on the safety and infection control procedures by the establishment whom we entrust with our skin and nails. Risks associated with the transmission of dangerous bacterium or viruses within the salon could present a very real and dangerous threat to an unaware consumer. Consumers and the beauty salon owners should be aware that diseases and/or health problems can be transmitted through client contact, contaminated utensils and/or improper disinfection procedures. It is imperative that the licensed professionals keep the facility clean and wash hands before beginning the requested service.
If your licensed professional hesitates to explain and show proper disinfection requirements or simply doesn’t know them, take your business elsewhere. Your health is too important to risk. Maintaining healthy fingernails and toenails is called Nail Care.

We use our hands for all intents and purposes and nails probably for little things, such as scratching. Unhygienic nails can not only prompt numerous diseases but also can eventually deliver germs and bacteria to our mouth without even paying attention to it. Healthy and hygienic nails can forestall many fungus infections of the nails and the skin.
To maintain healthy nails, trim the nails, keep hands clean and moisturized. Soak the feet and hands in warm water and scrub them with a soft brush under water to keep them clean. This will assist in preventing nails from infections through dirt and germs that get captured under the nails. Wear gloves while washing the dishes, gardening, handling harsh chemicals or soaps for extended periods. This is important because chemicals and other activities can weaken the nails, dry easily and causing breakage. Always take a break in nail polish because applying nail polish all the time can also lead to nail damage.

A manicure and pedicure treatment enhances blood circulation, improves the health of nails, prevents fungal infections, and keeps feet and hand smooth. Your nails act as indicators for malnutrition, kidney disease, liver disease, and other health problems. Nails are considered healthy if their color is consistent and their texture is smooth.

Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you notice severe discoloration on or around your nails.
